Course Objective & Scope
For teams moving from .NET Framework to modern .NET or writing new services, this course brings together how ASP.NET Core works and the practices that keep it maintainable. The focus is server-side API services that return JSON.
It covers the hosting model, dependency injection, the middleware pipeline, Controller and Minimal API styles, data access with Entity Framework Core, configuration with the Options pattern, JWT authentication and monitoring with OpenTelemetry. Participants build an end-to-end API on a scenario adapted to their organisation and derive a solution template the team can reuse.
Who Should Attend?
- C# developers who will build APIs with ASP.NET Core
- Teams migrating .NET Framework applications to modern .NET
- Tech leads defining backend architecture standards
- Prerequisite: C# and basic HTTP knowledge
Key Takeaways
- Set up the ASP.NET Core hosting model and middleware order correctly
- Choose deliberately between Controllers and Minimal APIs
- Manage DbContext, migrations and query performance with EF Core
- Implement JWT and policy-based authorisation
- Write integration tests with xUnit and WebApplicationFactory
