Course Objective & Scope

Keeping data centre virtual machines running without interruption depends on properly configured ESXi hosts, redundant network and storage paths, and balanced cluster rules. This course builds end-to-end skills for deploying, operating and troubleshooting VMware vSphere infrastructure.

ESXi and vCenter Server architecture, standard and distributed virtual switches (vDS), VMFS and NFS datastores, templates and content libraries, vMotion, vSphere HA, DRS affinity rules and vSphere Lifecycle Manager are covered in hands-on labs. Participants prepare a cluster design and health checklist for their own environment.

Who Should Attend?

  • System administrators managing virtualisation and data centre infrastructure
  • Systems engineers working on private cloud and hybrid infrastructure
  • IT specialists involved in server consolidation and business continuity projects
  • Prerequisite: basic server, storage and TCP/IP networking knowledge

Key Takeaways

  • Configure ESXi hosts and vCenter Server according to enterprise standards
  • Segment virtual networking with VLANs, NIC teaming and vSphere Distributed Switches
  • Manage VMFS, NFS and vSAN datastores and plan capacity
  • Achieve zero-downtime maintenance and high availability with vMotion, DRS and vSphere HA
  • Diagnose performance bottlenecks such as CPU ready, memory ballooning and disk latency
