Course Objective & Scope
Deep subject-matter experts often default to packing everything they know onto slides and lecturing; yet adults learn by connecting new ideas to prior experience and practising actively. This programme covers Malcolm Knowles' adult learning (andragogy) principles, David Kolb's experiential learning cycle, Gagne's events of instruction, interactive session design and classroom facilitation skills across in-person and virtual settings.
Participants redesign a module from their own domain, deliver a live micro-teaching segment during the programme, receive structured observer feedback and leave with a complete facilitator guide.
Who Should Attend?
- Internal trainers teaching in corporate academies and capability programmes
- Subject-matter experts (SMEs) transferring technical or functional know-how to colleagues
- Team leads and specialists delivering onboarding, product, process or compliance training
- L&D and HR professionals building and coaching an internal trainer pool
Key Takeaways
- Replace slide-heavy lectures with modules built around Kolb's experiential cycle (experience, reflect, conceptualise, apply)
- Open sessions with hooks that establish relevance, psychological safety and clear outcomes
- Build interaction loops every 10–15 minutes using questions, mini-cases, pair work and hands-on tasks
- Handle challenging classroom moments—tangents, pushback, silence or mixed skill levels—smoothly
- Produce a timeboxed facilitator guide and refine delivery through observed micro-teaching
