Course Objective & Scope
Clicking through GUIs across hundreds of servers or user accounts wastes hours and invites human error. This course teaches how to use PowerShell's object-oriented pipeline to build repeatable automation across Windows, Linux, Active Directory and cloud environments.
Cmdlets and the object pipeline, filtering and grouping, CIM/WMI queries, PowerShell Remoting over WinRM and SSH, handling JSON/CSV and REST APIs, `try/catch` error handling, advanced parameterised functions, module packaging and script signing are practised hands-on. Participants turn one of their routine administrative tasks into a reusable PowerShell module.
Who Should Attend?
- System administrators managing Windows Server, Active Directory and endpoints
- DevOps and cloud engineers writing CI/CD and cloud automation
- Microsoft 365 specialists automating bulk user, licensing and reporting tasks
- Prerequisite: basic operating system administration experience
Key Takeaways
- Filter, transform and export data through the object pipeline instead of brittle text parsing
- Manage dozens of remote servers in parallel using CIM/WMI and PowerShell Remoting
- Automate bulk tasks across Active Directory, Microsoft Graph and REST APIs
- Write resilient scripts with parameter validation, `-WhatIf`/`-Confirm` support and error handling
- Package scripts into reusable modules and secure them with Execution Policies and SecretStore
