Course Objective & Scope
Slow builds, flaky tests and manual release checklists bottleneck software delivery. This course teaches how to build fast, repeatable and safe CI/CD pipelines from code commit all the way to production.
Trunk-based development and PR workflows, parallel stages and dependency caching, unit/integration testing, SonarQube quality gates, SemVer and container tagging, environment promotion, blue/green and canary deployments and automated rollbacks are practised on the organisation's chosen platform (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps/Jenkins). Participants produce a reusable enterprise pipeline template.
Who Should Attend?
- DevOps and platform engineers designing and operating delivery pipelines
- Software developers improving build, test and release automation
- QA engineers integrating automated tests into CI/CD workflows
- Prerequisite: familiarity with Git and basic software build/packaging concepts
Key Takeaways
- Author a fast CI pipeline covering build, linting, unit tests and packaging
- Cut pipeline duration using dependency caching, matrix builds and parallel jobs
- Enforce test coverage, code quality and security scans as automated quality gates
- Build once and promote immutable artefacts/container images across dev, staging and production
- Execute low-risk releases and rapid rollbacks using rolling, blue/green and canary strategies
