Course Objective & Scope
Lifting and shifting servers straight into the cloud often preserves single points of failure while inflating monthly bills. This course teaches how to translate business and non-functional requirements into secure, resilient, scalable and cost-effective cloud architectures.
Multi-account/subscription landing zones, hub-and-spoke network topologies, multi-AZ and multi-region high availability, disaster recovery patterns matched to RPO/RTO targets (Pilot Light, Warm Standby, Active-Active), asynchronous messaging and caching patterns, 6R migration strategies and FinOps unit economics are worked through via case studies. Participants produce an architecture diagram and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) for an enterprise workload.
Who Should Attend?
- Cloud, solution and enterprise architects
- Senior software and DevOps engineers designing distributed systems and platforms
- Technical leads driving cloud migration and modernisation programmes
- Prerequisite: foundational experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure or GCP)
Key Takeaways
- Design a multi-account/subscription landing zone with network segmentation and central governance
- Select high-availability and DR architectures that meet specific RPO, RTO and SLA targets
- Combine synchronous APIs, queues, event streams and caching for loosely coupled scalability
- Match relational, NoSQL, search and analytical data stores to workload access patterns
- Document architectural trade-offs in ADRs and evaluate unit cost implications
Curriculum
