Course Objective & Scope

Copying data from emails into spreadsheets, sending routine notifications and moving files between tools eat up hours every week. This course introduces participants with little or no coding background to the core building blocks of workflow automation: triggers, branching, loops, data mapping and basic error handling.

Participants break down a real process step by step, learn when to use rule-based steps versus an AI step, and build and test a working first automation on the organisation's preferred platform.

Who Should Attend?

  • Business specialists looking to eliminate repetitive manual work
  • Operations, HR, finance, sales support and customer service teams
  • Process improvement and business analysis roles
  • Prerequisite: no programming background required

Key Takeaways

  • Decompose a business process into triggers, conditions, data transformations and actions
  • Select automation candidates based on volume, rule clarity and cost of error
  • Build a working flow connecting forms, email, spreadsheets and team chat
  • Apply basic data mapping and filtering rules across steps
  • Add testing and human-approval steps to prevent loops, misfires and data loss

Curriculum

Automation Mindset and Core Concepts
  • Triggers, actions, conditions (if/switch), loops and passing data
  • Comparing RPA, iPaaS/no-code tools (n8n, Power Automate, Make) and AI steps
Selecting and Simplifying the Right Process
  • Which tasks to automate and which to simplify first
  • Clarifying inputs, outputs and exceptions before building
Hands-On: Building Your First Workflow
  • End-to-end flow from form/email trigger to spreadsheet record and chat alert
  • Field mapping and basic date/text formatting
Conditions, Filters and Human Approval
  • Branching flows by amount, category or priority
  • Adding manager approval gates before critical actions
Testing, Go-Live and Maintenance Checklist
  • Running with test data and configuring failure alerts
  • Workflow documentation and ownership handover
