Course Objective & Scope

Unlike a synchronous chat assistant, an autonomous agent may run in the background for minutes or hours, consult dozens of tools and hit unexpected blockers mid-flight. The core user experience is no longer 'chatting'—it is delegating work to a digital teammate, supervising progress asynchronously and reviewing a finished deliverable.

This course covers task scoping, pre-execution plan approval, asynchronous progress visibility, blocker escalation and deliverable sign-off for agentic products, culminating in a delegation UX prototype for your own product.

Who Should Attend?

  • Product managers and UX designers building autonomous agent and background workflow products
  • Teams creating research, coding, operations or enterprise workflow agents
  • Frontend and product engineers
  • Prerequisite: familiarity with generative AI UX or core agent concepts

Key Takeaways

  • Turn underspecified user requests into clear task briefs through lightweight upfront alignment
  • Present an editable execution plan and scope boundary before the agent commits resources
  • Design an 'agent inbox' and asynchronous progress views for supervising multiple background runs
  • Create surgical escalation prompts when an agent is blocked on permissions or ambiguity without aborting the run
  • Structure final deliverables with audit trails and evidence summaries for rapid human sign-off

Curriculum

From Chatting to Delegating: The Agent Experience (AX) Lifecycle
  • How asynchronous background agents differ from synchronous inline copilots
  • The 5 stages of delegation: Briefing → Plan Alignment → Execution → Escalation → Sign-off
Task Scoping and Pre-Execution Plan Approval
  • Resolving critical ambiguities before the agent starts a multi-step run
  • Presenting an editable step plan, required permissions and cost/time estimates
Asynchronous Supervision, Agent Inbox and Mid-Flight Steering
  • Designing 'Agent Inbox' and mission-control views for managing concurrent runs
  • Replacing noisy raw logs with milestone summaries and mid-flight course correction
Blocker Escalation and Exception UX
  • Surfacing targeted one-click decisions when an agent hits missing credentials or conflicting data
  • Preserving partial progress and resuming cleanly from checkpoints
Deliverable Packaging, Proof of Work and Sign-Off
  • Bundling final outputs with action logs, state diffs and source evidence for fast review
  • Hands-on delegation and failure/escalation UX prototype for your product
