Course Objective & Scope
Many AI projects fail not because of the technology but because the problem was framed wrongly or vaguely. This course teaches teams to answer key questions before choosing any tool: which decision should improve, who makes it, with what information, and what does a wrong decision cost?
Participants narrow the problem using 5 Whys and problem statement templates, build a decision inventory, and translate the problem into an AI task such as classification, forecasting, generation or recommendation. By discussing the business impact of false positives and false negatives they decide where human approval belongs, producing a problem definition document based on the organisation's own cases.
Who Should Attend?
- Business unit managers planning to start an AI project
- Product managers and business analysts
- Project managers and PMO teams
- Process owners working with data and AI teams
Key Takeaways
- Convert a vague request into a measurable problem statement
- Inventory the critical decision points in a process
- Translate the problem into the right type of AI task
- Compare the business cost of error types and discuss acceptable thresholds
- Write a problem definition document including human checkpoints and a definition of success
