Course Objective & Scope

Static screenshots rarely capture how a multi-step flow actually feels in use, while jumping straight into production code without validation leads to costly rework. This course teaches how to build interactive prototypes at the right fidelity to test product hypotheses and align stakeholders.

Low-fidelity clickable flows, interaction triggers, overlays and scroll behaviours, transitions and micro-interactions with Smart Animate, interactive components, and dynamic cart, filter and form scenarios driven by variables and conditional logic (if/else) are practised hands-on. Participants build a usability-test-ready prototype for one of their own product flows.

Who Should Attend?

  • UI/UX and product designers validating flows through interactive scenarios
  • Product managers testing new feature concepts before committing engineering time
  • Interface teams specifying motion and state transitions clearly for developers
  • Prerequisite: basic Figma or screen design familiarity

Key Takeaways

  • Select the right prototype fidelity (lo-fi, mid-fi or hi-fi) for the question being tested
  • Configure sticky headers, nested scrolling, modals, drawers and dropdowns realistically
  • Design smooth state transitions and micro-interactions using Interactive Components and Smart Animate
  • Use variables, expressions and conditional logic (if/else) to simulate dynamic carts, counters and forms
  • Structure prototypes for clean usability test tasks and developer motion handoff

Curriculum

Prototyping Strategy and Fidelity Selection
  • Choosing the right fidelity for discovery, stakeholder alignment and usability testing
  • Structuring happy-path and edge-case user scenarios
Core Interactions, Navigation and Scroll Behaviours
  • Triggers (on click, while hovering, after delay) and actions (navigate, overlay, back)
  • Fixed/sticky elements, carousels and nested scroll containers
Interactive Components and Micro-Interactions
  • Wiring interactions directly between component variants (buttons, toggles, accordions, tabs)
  • Natural motion design with Smart Animate, layer matching and easing curves
Advanced Prototyping with Variables and Conditional Logic
  • Simulating counters, cart totals and filters with Set Variable and expressions
  • Branching flows for validation errors and empty states using if/else conditions
Usability Test Preparation and Motion Handoff
  • Setting up multiple Flow Starting Points and guiding test participants
  • Documenting duration, delay and easing specs for engineering handoff
