Course Objective & Scope

In large hotels, resorts and convention centres, guest satisfaction and operating margin depend heavily on check-in wait times, buffet replenishment, food waste and safety across shared facilities. This course shows how to turn existing CCTV infrastructure into operational decision support without compromising guest privacy.

Lobby and check-in queue analytics, detecting depleted buffet trays, kitchen food-waste visual logging, car-park licence plate recognition (ALPR) and pool/perimeter safety scenarios are covered hands-on. Participants design a privacy-compliant camera analytics and staff-notification architecture for their own properties.

Who Should Attend?

  • Software and data teams at hotel chains, hospitality groups and facility management companies
  • AI engineers building camera analytics for hospitality, travel and food-service venues
  • Technology managers leading guest-experience, F&B operations and smart-building initiatives
  • Prerequisite: Basic Python and familiarity with image processing or object detection

Key Takeaways

  • Measure queue length and guest wait times in real time at check-in, concierge and restaurant entrances
  • Detect buffet tray fill levels and trigger automatic kitchen replenishment alerts
  • Classify kitchen and plate food waste visually for F&B cost and sustainability reporting
  • Automate valet and car-park entry with licence plate recognition (ALPR) and occupancy counting
  • Generate anonymous heatmaps and space-utilisation statistics without storing guest faces

Curriculum

Lobby, Reception and Shared-Space Crowd Analytics
  • People counting, check-in queue length and average guest dwell-time calculation
  • Occupancy heatmaps for lobbies, convention halls and retail corridors
F&B Operations: Buffet Monitoring and Food-Waste Analysis
  • Buffet pan segmentation to estimate fill levels and alert kitchen staff
  • Visual classification of plate and kitchen waste to optimise portioning and reduce loss
Car Park, Valet and Access Automation (ALPR)
  • Vehicle detection, plate localisation and OCR across varied lighting and angles
  • Matching VIP/booked vehicles and tracking free bays in indoor and outdoor car parks
Pool, Beach and Facility Safety
  • Poolside slip/fall detection, after-hours zone intrusion and unattended-baggage alerts
  • Handling water-surface reflections and night-vision (IR) camera feeds reliably
Guest Privacy, Compliance and Operational Integration
  • Anonymous analytics without facial recognition, automatic blurring and retention policies
  • Real-time webhook alerts to PMS, staff mobile apps and building management systems (BMS)
