Course Objective & Scope
In no-code and low-code automation projects, teams quickly hit the ceiling of pre-built connectors when internal software, local ERP/CRM services or new AI APIs require custom integration. This course equips technical analysts and low-code builders with the skills to work confidently with APIs and webhooks.
HTTP methods, reading REST API documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger), testing requests in Postman/Bruno, JSON and JSON Schema, Bearer Token/OAuth2/HMAC signature verification, calling LLM APIs directly (structured outputs, tool calling) and rate-limit/retry design are covered hands-on.
Who Should Attend?
- Business and systems analysts
- Low-code builders working with n8n, Power Automate, Make or Zapier
- Operations, MarTech and process automation specialists
- Prerequisite: basic experience building flows in at least one automation platform
Key Takeaways
- Read any service's API documentation and translate it into an HTTP Request node
- Parse nested JSON payloads and map them to target system schemas
- Configure inbound and outbound webhooks with signature verification and security checks
- Call LLM APIs directly to receive responses guaranteed to match a JSON Schema
- Implement exponential backoff, idempotency and dead-letter flows for 429/5xx errors
Curriculum
REST API, HTTP and JSON Fundamentals
- GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, DELETE methods, headers, query parameters and status codes
- Reading OpenAPI/Swagger docs and testing requests in Postman/Bruno
Authentication and Secure Connectivity
- API Keys, Bearer Tokens, OAuth2 flows and secret management
- HMAC signature verification and IP/token checks on inbound webhooks
Webhook Architecture and Asynchronous Workflows
- Replacing polling with event-driven webhook triggers
- Callback webhook and status-polling patterns for long-running AI/OCR jobs
Calling LLM APIs Directly and Structured Outputs
- Direct HTTP calls to OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini REST endpoints
- Type-safe responses with
response_format/ JSON Schema and token/cost tracking
Resilience: Rate Limits, Idempotency and Error Handling
- Pagination, batching and exponential backoff for HTTP 429 rate limits
- Preventing duplicate records with idempotency keys and dead-letter recovery queues
